Waste of Money

This book can be called a demo book at the most. It shows what they want to show you. If you follow this book, you can finish its exemples without difficulty. However it provides all the basic files that you may not have the knowlege to create to you and have no explaination on any one of them. Thus if you want to recreate the exercisea without its files, you will be definitely in trouble. It only provide very limited exemples for this software and leaves a mayority of its functions and terms uncovered.
I bought another book called Adobe .... classroom etc. It is almost the same presentation that only gives a few exemple and reprints some paragraphs from the Adobe CS6 manuals. So I won't buy any other book with the classroom ... on its title forever.
I would not recommand this book to anyone because it wastes your money and your time.

Good for basics but needs more advanced topics

I needed a crash course in After Effects. The book does a good job at teaching the basics but I needed a few more advanced topics to get my skills to where they needed to be. Overall though, this book is an easy read and well written.

Nice Book but not buy the Kindle version!

I bought the Kindle Version of the book. I am still reading it but it seems very clear for someone who is starting on After Effects. My suggestion is that some diagrams are incredible small and it is impossible to see very important details(But you can see those images putting the files that come with the book on your computer). As the Kindle version can be updated... I suggest that the author uses one page per diagram. Something very good that I found is that author will give you access to new versions of the book(Of course only in CS6). So if a problem is found and fixed, the buyers will have the latest version. I hope to see that. That offer motivated me to put here this opinion. Usually I am too lazy to write reviews.
At this day (March 29, 2013) I think is better the tradional book vs the Kindle version, because some important details are hard to see. Unfortunately the Kindle magnification is limited, for that reason I suggest the paper version instead of the digital version.
