The Friendship Factor
By C. Kendall
The Friendship Factor is a new book by Brenda Poinsett that explores the friendships of women. This book is divided into three parts. In the first part, the author discusses why women need other women, our need to talk and fellowship with other women, and what makes the bond between women so strong, among other topics. The second part of the book, called "Circle the Wagons, Girls" talks about the life events when we really need our friends. The author also discusses the different stages of a woman's life and how it impacts her friendships. The third part of the book is all about how to be a good friend by listening, being available, and so on.

Now, I really enjoyed reading The Friendship Factor, a lot, but I have never been a "normal" woman. There were several things I read in this book that I just simply did not relate to. Usually when I have a problem, the last thing I want to do is sit around with a group of women and share. Perhaps, I'm not the greatest friend I could be because I tend to be more uncomfortable around some women, so those types of friendships have not been a big priority. I have some women friends that I value highly, but my introvert nature makes it hard for me to relate to some of the material in this book.

For a normal woman, this book is a treasure. Like I said, I really enjoyed this book. This is not a book of fluff. This is a book of substance and biblical wisdom written with a lot of personality. There is a lot of practical advice and personal reflection from the author which makes this an interesting and useful book. I probably took the most away from the third part of the book which offers advice about being a good friend. I do have some friends who are very dear to me (they know who they are) and I think this book has given me some great advice and incentive to be a better friend. I highly recommend this book to all women who love their friendships. It is a wonderful book.

What every woman needs to know about 'friendships'
By G'Ma V
As soon as I started reading "The Friendship Factor", immediately following it's release, I just knew this was a book for my SS class! Was I ever right?! We read it chapter by chapter, round-table style. Women not choosing to read, just passed.
Some may believe that a book study of this kind is not appropriate as a SS class study option. I strongly agree that studying scripture is a priority. I find that scripture can be read and studied all your life. Unless you know how to apply it to your life and relate it to your personal situations, it does you little good.
Perhaps, if our Adult Sunday School didn't offer actual studying of the scriptures, we would not have offered this class either during the SS hour, but would have found a way to study it in a different setting.
"The Friendship Factor" refers to at least 55 scriptures for a basis for what is being explained. Being a Titus 2 women was also a feature.
Almost every Sunday as we read each chapter, one of the ladies reading it would be most understanding of the context because she had been or was going through this same type of situation. We call it a 'GOD Thing' and an affirmation that GOD approves our choice of books.
As we read, we laughed, we cried, we gave that 'nod' and our class grew as a result of the study. "The Friendship Factor" was even shared with ladies outside the class; outside the church. "The Friendship Factor" led us to understand how GOD made us women different from men and gave examples of biblical characters such as Mary & Elizabeth, Naomi & Ruth and others in the need to confer and share with another women, in whom we can confide.

Brenda Poinsett in The Friendship Factor elaborates on the need every woman has to have a group of close friends to share their daily triumphs and tragedies with.

This easy to read book is broken into three parts explaining why we as girls need friends, when we need them, and how to be a good friend!

The Friendship Factor is a great reminder that in this day when emails, facebook updates, and tweets are done hourly, we need that personal connection with a group of friends to share our lives with on a personal eye to eye level.
