Jennifer Kennedy Dean is executive director of the Praying Life Foundation and a respected author and speaker. She is the author of numerous books, studies, and magazine articles specializing in prayer and spiritual formation. Her book, Live a Praying Life, has been called a flagship work on prayer. She is a board member for Advanced Writers and Speakers Association, a member of America’s National Prayer Committee, and a member of National Professional Women Association. Jennifer was widowed in 2005 after 26 years of marriage to Wayne Dean, her partner both in life and ministry. They are the parents of three grown sons. Jennifer makes her home in Marion, Kentucky.

I was prepared to really like this book - but not prepared for how much! My usual reaction to a JKD book is to read something - marvel at the simple-yet-deeper way she sees it - and then think "Duh! Of course!" This book was full of those moments. :) Great mind-twirling stuff.

My husband and I are conducting a Facebook discussion on this book using FB's "secret group" feature. New technologies have created so many deep friendship of people you'd love to sit around your kitchen table and share with - but no way to make it happen. Facebook to the rescue. I'll let y'all know how it goes. We are really excited.

Having used many devotional through the years, I can share that this is the best ever. Jennifer Kennedy Dean hears God and He has given her the gift of words to convey His Word to us. She brings in-site into Scripture and makes it understandable and a blessing each of the 28 days of the devotions. She will stretch your relationship with God to new heights. I purchased 3 additional copies to share with family and friends so they could be blessed also.

I love the way Jennifer Dean explains the "small" in each chapter and then she ends with a prayer which consists of 5 words or less that sums up that chapter. It is a whole different way of thinking "small". I loved it!!!

About the Author
Henry Blackaby is the author of Experiencing God, which has sold 5 million copies and has been translated into 50 languages. He is president of Blackaby Ministries International, an organization he founded to help people experience God in a more intimate way. Born in British Columbia, Dr. Blackaby has devoted his lifetime to ministry. He has served as a music director, education director, and pastor in churches in California and Canada, as well as president of Canadian Baptist Theological College for seven years and president of the Canadian Southern Baptist Conference. Dr. Blackaby went on to serve as special assistant to the president at the Home Mission Board (now North American Mission Board) of the Southern Baptist Convention in the area of prayer, revival, and spiritual awakening. He also served as special assistant to the presidents of the International Mission Board and LifeWay Christian Resources. He has provided leadership to thousands of pastors and laymen across North America and has spoken internationally in over ninety countries of the world. Henry lives with his wife, Marilynn, in Rex, Georgia. He has five children (Richard, Tom, Melvin, Norman, and Carrie), all of whom are serving in Christian ministry, and fourteen grandchildren. His long-range goal is to encourage revival and spiritual awakening in the United States, Canada, and across the world through speaking, praying, enlisting, writing, and mentoring.

ROB HAYES is a 25-year-old award-winning playwright, and makes his London debut at The Cock Tavern Theatre with the World Premiere of A Butcher Of Distinction, offering a journey in to the bizarre and grotesque world of this young and extraordinarily talented young mind. Hayes recently won "Best Overall Production" at the 26th Lost Theatre Annual One Act Festival for his collaboration with Ned Bennett.

Great Bible study book

Great Bible study book! We did this as a group study and it covered topics on all the ages of our children of the ladies that took the class. I loved the sweet stories about her family that went with it. We will probably do another of her studies in the future.

Scott Ott's brand of satire is how good satire is written. No wonder Rush mentions him periodically on his radio show. Enjoyed this comical short read. Caution: Progressives probably won't find it as humorous as I did. They'd use it as a study manual :)

Excellent satire of the EU and the EUP. Unfortunately, it would require more knowledge of European issues, than the patrons of my community theatre group have, here in North America, so I'm not considering it for performance. It was, however, an interesting "read" and it is a well-crafted farce.

Good Tron Uprising adaptation of parts 1 & 2 1/2 episodes of "The Renegade"

Watching a television series or movie is different than reading it's adaptation in book form. And this is how it should be. In this form of media one gets into the minds and emotions of the characters. I was somewhat confused as to why the story ended at a point where it had. One could have easily felt "left-hanging" as Beck proceeded into a rescue mission. Then, before we see if he's even successful or even goes back to Tron to tell him he wishes to proceed with his training, "the end".

However giving this more thought the storyline is focused more-so on Beck on his introduction as well as his feeling "into the role" of the shoes of the legendary Tron, the mentor who's name and persona he's expected to follow as he learns the whys and reasons he must lead an upcoming revolution. Tron, his mentor, supportive role. Meanwhile, Beck's friend Cutler unknowingly echoes Tron's encouragement as Beck struggles with what's expected of him. Looking at it from this perspective the novel does pretty well as a "one-shot". Looking at it any other way may cause one to conclude it's unfinished.

Yet, had there been a series of novels was written to be an adaptations of the series, I would have expected them to be more exploring of the episodes in question in full.

The reason why I didn't give this a 5-star review is...there are some misprints in the book. For example, Cutler and Beck are speaking together when they're inhabiting a cell at the Colosseum. Beck will make a statement and, instead of Cutler being the one to make a response "Zed", one of Beck's friends (who isn't even there) does so instead. Apparently it's a typo. And there are a minuscule number.

Strangely, when I first ordered the book, I first thought it was the adaptation of "Beck's Beginning", not "The Renegade". So, if your looking for the Prelude to the series, Disney decided to simply go for the 2 parter episodes instead.

About the Author
Arti Hurria, MD, is a geriatrician and oncologist who focuses on the care of older patients with cancer. She completed a geriatric fellowship in the Harvard Geriatric Fellowship Program, followed by a hematology-oncology fellowship at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC). She subsequently joined the faculty at MSKCC, where she served as Co-Principal Investigator on the institutional NIH P20 grant 'Development of an Aging and Cancer Center at MSKCC'. In the fall of 2006, Dr Hurria joined the City of Hope as Director of the Cancer and Aging Research Program. Dr Hurria is a cadre member of the Cancer and Leukemia Group B, Cancer in the Elderly Committee, and is a recipient of the Paul Beeson Career Development Award in Aging Research (K23 AG026749-01) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology's Association of Specialty Professors' Junior Development Award in Geriatric Oncology. She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, the Journal of Clinical Oncology and Oncologist.

He knew victories and defeats at Chattanooga, the Atlanta and Tennessee Campaigns. He fought under the great leaders of the war in the west, Braxton Bragg, Joseph Johnston, and John Bell Hood. He found that what had appeared to be the road to glory was the highway to hell. He struggles to survive and return home to Texas a world weary fifteen year old, a changed young man. STEPHEN L. TURNER was born a fifth generation Texan, sixth generation Arkansan, and eighth generation American. His youth was steeped in the history and culture of his heritage. A graduate of Texas Tech School of Medicine, he has worked as a pediatrician in rural Plainview, Texas since 1984. He is married with two married children. Unique perspective

Written with the perspective of a boy beginning his teens, On the Road to Glory, lets the reader experience the Civil War through young Aaron's eyes. The descriptions of the war are not sugar-coated, but are realistic. As the reader, you will gain insight into how the war separated families, exposed young men to bloody battles for causes that they didn't fully understand, and how they found courage on their accelerated path to becoming a man. Beyond the tragedies of war, this book captures sweetness, humor, and the deep bonding of brothers and fellow soldiers. This book is a must for those interested in the Civil War but also will relate to young readers and even moms.

My kiddos love all the books in this series. An outstanding series of books for all children. The books are very entertaining and engaging. Stephen Turner has once again provided his readers with an opportunity to learn about historical events and times. We look forward to each new book as a family. These books warrant my highest recommendation. As an elementary teacher, I feel that this books as well as the others in the series would be a wonderful addition to any teacher's classroom library.

I feel like I knew Grandpa Turner but he died before I was born. I enjoyed Steve Turner's story about him and his experiences as a young man. I feel
that I knew him because I found census records, his marriage record and his children's birth records, his death record, burial records and photos of him in his later days. I wish I had known him. I look forward to reading more in future books.
